Country: United Kingdom, Germany
Director: James McTeigue
Story:
In the distant future, Evey Hammond is an average citizen of the United Kingdom, which is under the rule of the fascist and tyrannical Norsefire Party. She is an employee of the state-run British Television Network, but soon, she becomes the number one enemy of the state together with an enigmatic and larger-than-life freedom fighter known only by the letter "V". V informs Evey that she must hide in his underground lair for at least one year, and while she is reluctant to the idea at first, a bond soon forms between the two individuals. In the meanwhile, the mysterious past of V is gradually revealed to the police inspector tasked with capturing him, Eric Finch, and it is not long until he starts questioning everything his government stands for.
Trivias:
All of V's dialogue was dubbed. Initially, a mask was designed with a small microphone inside, and another mike was designed to sit along Hugo Weaving's hairline, but neither worked very well.
All of the models (the Old Bailey, the Clock Tower, and the Houses of Parliament) were built at one-tenth scale. Together, they took twenty people ten weeks to build.
The scene with the dominoes was achieved completely physically. Weijers Domino Productions from the Netherlands took three days to set up 22 000 dominoes for the scene and actually had to do it twice because of issues with the camera angles the first time around.
Comments:
If we try to analyze a film from a Marxist point of view, we can't do it regardless of the director of the film, the director's past, where it was shot, and the time when it was shot, contrary to dialectics. All of these are the building blocks in the formation of the resulting film. Therefore, the fact that we have a brief knowledge of the director, producer, history and place that influenced the formation of “V for Vendetta”, which we will try to analyze, will contribute to the analysis. The Film is not an autheur film. The director was put in charge of the film by the producers. So we can say that it was created at the request of the filmmakers. James McTeigue was seated in the director's chair by the Wachowski Brothers, the producer. The Wachowski brothers also adapted the film from the original comic book into a movie. Of course, we know the brothers who worked as screenwriters and producers in this film from the “Matrix” series. The brothers who wrote and directed the” Matrix " series achieved their fame through these films.
